Councillor John Smith

28 June 2021

I am sorry to have to report to you, on behalf of the Parish Council, that John Smith, who was both a parish and district councillor, passed away on Saturday night. Following a recent, unexpected, diagnosis of cancer, John spent a number of weeks in hospital and returned home about a month ago. Whilst this outcome was inevitable, it has happened much sooner than anyone expected, and we are very shocked and saddened by the news. In recent years John played a big part in village life and his passing leaves a considerable hole in the community. Our thoughts are with his sister and her family. His wish was that a celebration of his life be held at the Church Hall in the coming months, we will of course share details once they are known.

As you may know, West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds has been selected as one of 40 hospitals nationwide to benefit from a major building programme. In preparation for that, we are looking at what patients and local residents need from their local NHS services and would like to ask for your help in getting the message out.
